DASK earthquake insurance Turkey: how much does it cost in 2026?

DASK premiums are set by the government but vary by property size, construction type and earthquake zone. Here's a 2026 price guide for foreign property owners.

By İkamet Sigorta ·

DASK (Doğal Afet Sigortaları Kurumu) is Turkey’s compulsory earthquake insurance scheme. Premiums are set by the government under a regulated tariff — making DASK one of the most transparent insurance products in Turkey.

How are DASK premiums calculated?

DASK uses a fixed government tariff based on three factors:

1. Property floor area (m²)

The gross floor area of the insured property. Larger properties pay more.

2. Construction type

TypeDescriptionRisk
Type 1Reinforced concrete, engineeredLowest risk
Type 2Reinforced concrete, non-engineeredMedium-low
Type 3Masonry or brickMedium-high
Type 4Prefabricated/steel frameMedium
Type 5Other / unknownHighest risk

3. Earthquake risk zone

Turkey is divided into zones by seismic risk. Zone 1 (high risk, including Istanbul, Izmir) has the highest tariff. Zone 5 (low risk) has the lowest.

What is the maximum DASK coverage?

DASK policies cover up to the insured sum stated on the policy. The maximum insured sum per residential property is set by regulation — in 2026, approximately ₺640,000.

If your property’s full reconstruction value exceeds this, consider adding supplementary earthquake cover within a home insurance policy.

What about commercial properties?

Standard DASK only covers residential properties. For commercial premises, speak to us about business property insurance with earthquake cover.
